Total and Average Manufacturing Lead Time

This is one of the supply chain metrics that shows how much it takes to manufacture a product or its part. Manufacturing Lead Time includes time to prepare for manufacturing, time to actually produce a product or its part, inspection time and time to ship the product or its part.

Manufacturing Lead Time can be calculated by the formula:

Manufacturing Lead Time = Shipping Date – Request Date

Request Date is the date when you get the request to manufacture the product

Shipping Date is the date when the product was delivered to therequested place.

This measure is needed for managing internal manufacturing processes in the company.

If you need to calculate total and average manufacturing lead time of products provided, you need to do the following:

• Create custom field “Request Date”:
  • Go to: Tools/Custom fields and press “Ins” button
  • In “Title” field enter “Request Date”
  • In “Code” field enter “cf_ request_date”
  • In “Type” field select “Date” and click “Ok” button



• Create custom field “Shipping Date”:
  • Go to: Tools/Custom fields and press “Ins” button
  • In “Title” field enter “Shipping Date”
  • In “Code” field enter “cf_shipping_date”
  • In “Type” field select “Date” and click “Ok” button



• Create custom field “Manufacturing Lead Time”:
  • Go to: Tools/Custom fields and press “Ins” button
  • In “Title” field enter “Manufacturing Lead Time”
  • In “Code” field enter “cf_manufacturing_lead_time”
  • In “Type” field select “Duration”
  • In “Formula” field enter the following formula and click “Ok” button:
  • $cf_shipping_date $cf_request_date



• If you need to view the total and average manufacturing lead time of products provided per particular project, filter your todo list by task group with project tasks.



• To display manufacturing lead time of products provided within particular time span set filter on Task List – Filters panel



• Set footer to display the total or average manufacturing lead time of products provided:
  •   right click under column “Manufacturing Lead Time”
  •   to see total Manufacturing Lead Time select “Sum”



• to see average Manufacturing Lead Time select “Average”



If you need to view the total or average manufacturing lead time of products provided on Task Tree, please follow the steps below:

• On Task Tree select root task group and select “Custom fields options”



• To enable the displaying of the total or average manufacturing lead time of products provided select custom field “Manufacturing Lead Time” and  set the following options:
  •   select Enable
  • check “Aggregated” (for task group)
  • to display the total manufacturing lead time of products select “Sum” and the custom field name “Manufacturing Lead Time”



• to display average manufacturing lead time of products select “Average”



• Select task group for which you need to view the total or average manufacturing lead time of products, right click and select “Custom fields options”



• Select custom field “Manufacturing Lead Time” and select the option “Enable by parent”.
