Schedule Variance percentage % per Project (SV %) is a project management KPI that shows how close you stick to your schedule in terms of percentage. This variance metrics shows how much work in percentage you need to complete or how much work in percentage has been done in excess of your budgeted cost.

Schedule variance Percentage % (SV %) is calculated by the following formula:

Schedule Variance Percentage % (SV %) = Schedule Variance (SV) / Budgeted Cost of Work Performed (BCWP)

This formula is equal to:

Schedule Variance Percentage % (SV %) = Schedule Variance (SV) / Planned Value (PV)

Schedule Variance Percentage % (SV %) with negative value shows the percentage of work that should be done to be on track with your schedule. In other words, your project is behind the schedule in terms of budgeted cost.

Schedule Variance Percentage % (SV %) with positive value shows the percentage of work that has been done in the access of planned cost. It means that your project is ahead of the schedule in terms of budgeted cost.

For example, if Budgeted Cost of Work Performed (BCWP) of a project is $9000 USD up to a certain date and Schedule Variance (SV) of a project at the same date is negative value $– 6 000 USD, Schedule Variance Percentage % (SV %) is as follows:

Schedule Variance Percentage % (SV %) = – $6 000 USD / 9 000 USD = - 0.67 or – 67 %

According to this example, the project is 67 % behind the schedule. You need to do 67% of work to be on track with your schedule in terms of budgeted cost.

Schedule Variance Percentage % (SV %) helps compare how much percentage of work has been actually done with what have been planned in terms of budgeted cost for the work performed.

To calculate Schedule Variance Percentage % (SV %) please follow the steps below:

• Add the custom field "BCWP" with code "cf_bswp"



• Add the custom field "SV" (Schedule Variance) with code "cf_sv" and the formula: $cf_bcwp $cf_bcws



• Create custom field "SV %" (Schedule Variance Percentage %) with code "cf_sv_percentage" and the formula:

$cf_sv / $cf_bcwp



• On Task Tree select the task group for which you need to display Schedule Variance % (SV %) per Project  and select "Custom fields options"



• Set the following custom fields settings for the custom fields: "BCWP", "SV" and "SV%"
  • In "Settings for" select "This task group"
  • select "Enable"
  • select "Calculated by custom field formula (for task group)"
