Hi,
Since we are using a shared task list in Outlook at the moment, it would be quite some work to migrate the tasks from Outlook to Task Mngr. An import function would be very helpful.

I assume that this is already on the development wishlist. What is your best guess on availability?
On the whole, what is the average time between deployments of new releases? How are installed versions updated? |

Hi,
When looking around for tools that allow us to schedule tasks and display them properly on a calendar I saw a tool called Taskline. Although this tool is not useful for us, it does have a very good function that allows automatic schedule of tasks taking various constraints (working hours, priority etc.) into consideration.
I think a function like that could take away an enormous amount of overhead when scheduling tasks.

Hi,
We're evaluating the software and I'm running into some problems. It seems that I can move tasks on the calendar view but this doesn't have any effect on the task details. If I then print the Calendar view I get the details from the task list; unchanged.
Moreover, I can't also update instances from recurring tasks easily. In some cases I can't move them at all in other cases I can't update the start and end time anymore. Not very flexible.
Thanks!

Apparently what happened is that the calendar view actually allowed me to move the recurring task.
Since this is illegal within the application, the details did not change. Your answer already showed me that this is illegal.
It is very unfortunate that recurring tasks cannot be re-scheduled using the calendar view. 60% of our work is recurring and needs to be rescheduled every now and then (more now than then ) unfortunately.
Outlook is capable of making a distinction between an occurance and a chain. It would be very nice if this application could also do that.
Not being able to re-schedule the recurring tasks per occurence almost renders the application useless to us. Any suggestions for workarounds would be very useful.
It does seem to work fine with standalone tasks.
Thanks - Yuri. |

Hi,
To me it seems logical to link the field estimated time with the duration of the task when you select a start time and finish time.
My team now has to pay extra attention when entering estimated time and scheduling them on the Calendar view.
Also, when changing time using the Calendar view, by expanding the selection block, should then update the estimated time.
Thanks!

Indeed, that's why I'm also missing/would like to see is an option to determine the working hours per resource. It's a simple calculation really to end the estimation at the end of the standard working day and start again on the next.
Other very helpful functionalities (that I really should post on the other group)
- Searching first available time for a resource (together with holiday planner)
- Presetting max number of hours per day and/or
- allowing certain % of overtime (to be used when calculating estimated time)
BTW, thanks for the very quick reply!
Thanks again!

Hi,
Starting of with the fact that we're still evaluating, it seems that the application is not storing the screen lay-out (panels chosen, location of panels etc.). Let alone store them per user; changing user doesn't show the users settings.
Is this a result of the fact that we're evaluating or not? I must say that we updated to the latest version during the evaluation period. Before it seemed to store the settings.
Thanks!

Hi,
We have now purchased the product; although that is irrelavant to this problem. It seems that custom lay-outs are not always stored / remembered.
I have users that have to reset their lay-out every time they start the application.
It's a problem that is difficult to reproduce. Is it required to reboot the computer after installation or perhaps just logging off and on? Perhaps this is a problem.
Another problem I have indentified with the installer (installShield). After the installation has finished you can choose to start the application by checking a box. If you do that, this always results in an error message and Windows is forced to close the application. Starting it from the Start Menu afterwards is no problem.
Thanks!

Hi,
Setup:
1. Administrator
2. Resource
3. Resource supervisor
I've setup a task for a certain resource.
- We have added a watch on the task
- We have added a watch on the resourse (at the superviser, and the administrator)
Problems found:
While logged in under the assigned resource we've changed the status:
- Only 1 of the users got a notification; the administrator
- The notification came only after applying the refresh
Additional question:
- It seems that notifications are sent based on a trigger, when does this trigger go off? Directly after creation or once every x minutes?
Thanks!
