If I got it right there is such a possibility.
1. Select Date Range option on Filters panel
2. Set radio button opposite 'Relative' option
3. Select 'This month' option in drop down list
4. Click on 'Save as...' button on Filters panel toolbar
5. Select 'New' option
6. Enter filter name, ex.: 'This Month' and click Ok button
7. Select preset fllter 'This Month'
