Evaluating this fine product and have some questions

- Is there a way that a user can be setup only to see their tasks and not a different user's tasks

- Can a task be dependent on the completion of a second
task ?

- Can a task be broken up to sub tasks

- Is there a way of defining a set of tasks to take place
between a start and end time and then based upon the estimated length of all the tasks, know if it cannot fit in to the alloted time
So if I have 5 tasks and each is estimated to take 5 hours and I set that they should all take place in a 2 day period it would show that the period can not accomodate all this work. Or generally it would show how much work is allocated to a period of time.

Thanks

"- Is there a way that a user can be setup only to see their tasks and not a different user's tasks"

Yes, in VIP Task Manager Pro you can create a Task Group for this user and allow him to see the tasks only in this Task Group.

"- Can a task be dependent on the completion of a second task?"

Ath the moment no, it is not dependent. How you would like it to work in our application?

"- Can a task be broken up to sub tasks"

Task Tree tab allows to display tasks in hierarchy, however, we use somewhat different approach. Ex.: If you have a task that can be broken into sub tasks you need to create a task group and fill it with tasks. You can create an unlimeted number of task sub-groups.

As for the estimated time:
Yes, I think you can do this if you:
1. Set filter for this time period
2. Activate footer (right click on any column header)
3. Right click on footer under "estimated time" filed and select sum

But a category represents related tasks that could be done by 2 different resources and each should not see the other.

Some tasks are dependent upon other tasks so it should be able to be specified as well and be able to view dependency.

Permissions can be set for Task Groups, not for separate Tasks. So you can create category Project 1, and its subcategories John's Tasks and Mark's Tasks. When the task is general you can assign it to Project 1 category and they both will see it, when the task specific you can assign it either to John's Tasks or to Mark's Tasks.

I see, but how exactly would you like the program to show this dependency, ex.: simply a text that tells that this task depends on that task, or possibility to set a link to the dependent task, or something else?

Not sure I understand. Could you explain it in more details with an example?

I tried it and it is a very nice. It seemed to only work when I was grouping tasks. does it work even for non grouped tasks?

Another question, If I set up groupings, filters, columns displayed - is there a way to save this entire setting, with a name which I then can reuse easily to recreate this view?

Thanks

There are two footers: main and group footer. When you group tasks you can use group footer. When you filter tasks you can use main footer.

I understand what feature you mean. It is called 'column layout'. At the moment there is no such a feature though we have it in our more old product from another product line Smile. I added it to our feature request list so it will be added in one of the next updates.

I mean all the settings, column, filter, grouping, footer. Do you see that as doable in the next 2 or 3 months?

Yes, I got it Smile Column layout includes grouping. When I added your request to the list I added possibility to link the layout with filter and footer.
As for the time schedule - The March update is already set - so,yes 2-3 months is what we expect.
