Step 5. Planning transportation company tasks list

VIP Task Manager has a set of tools that allows management of the transportation company to plan the company activity. The manager can use standard task attributes like due dates, start and finish dates, priorities when drawing up plan. Besides, the manager can use custom fields to specify a column in the task list (for example, it can be duration of order filling). Let's see it in details.

Planning by dates

Time is the most important resource as it cannot be filled up again. When the employee creates a task he can set due dates. Once it is done, VIP Task Manager notifies on task due date. The column "Time left" is counted as a difference between task due date and current date/time in the system. For example, the task "4.Arranging transportation" in the task group "Customer 1" has due date 09/10/2008 . Forwarding Agent should settle all formalities and arrange transportation of order until this date. He can plan his performance by using "Due Date" column and "Time left" column. In our example, he has about 30 hours to accomplish the task.

Here is another example. For the operational planning CEO of the transportation company can set due date for the task "9.Reporting to Department Head". So employees (Broker, Forwarding Agent, Sales Manager) should give a report on current task progress in due time.

Planning by task priority

Managers and employee can use task priority to show which tasks should be accomplished at first. Once customer's order was accepted all involved employees estimate and plan time needed for tasks completion. They can use task priorities to highlight the most important and urgent tasks. There are six types of task priorities: Lowest, Low, Normal , High, Highest and Urgent. In Task List View the filter can be applied to display urgent tasks with status "Urgent", "Highest" and "High". The filter setting could be saved to a profile. In addition, the task priorities marked with different colors that makes easy for employee to watch important tasks and the interface is helpful.
